And to that end, Jesus himself sanctifies himself – he aligns himself with the purposes of God, and willingly allows himself to be crucified on the cross, so that his disciples will know the truth of God's love. And in response, God the Father glorifies the Son by raising him from the dead, and forty days later, raising him into heaven.
We know that Jesus asks the Father for what WE need as well, because WE ARE those who believe in Jesus through the word of the first disciples. WE are invited to be one in Christ, so that the world may believe that God has sent him. And WE are among those whom God has given Jesus, that Jesus desires to be with him where he is, and see his glory...a desire that gives us great hope.
Gracious God, we ask you for protection, unification, and sanctification in your truth, in Jesus' name. Amen.
