But in these days, God has raised up the booth of David that is fallen – he has raised his son, Jesus Christ, from the dead. And thanks to Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection, God has changed the nature of our relationship. No longer do we need to fear exile from God's presence, for God has adopted us as his children, and given us eternal life with him as our inheritance. We will live with him on a renewed earth, where there will be so much to harvest that it won't get finished before it is time to plant again, the one who ploughs will overtake the one who reaps. And the welcoming ceremony into God's family, is baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
As a response to our joy of being made members of God's family, we can strive to love the good. We can strive for justice in the gate, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream, as directed by the Holy Spirit. And, as Jesus commanded us, we can go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.
Heavenly Father, help us to stand against corruption, and promote the good. Inspire us to true repentance, and keep us listening to your Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name, amen.
