“Let everyone who is thirsty, come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.” Let that sink in. Eternal life is not just for heroes of the faith, it is an inheritance for ALL of God's children. It is for ALL who conquer the temptation to break faith with God. It is for ALL who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, who makes all of this possible.
“The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come.'” Through Word, like the book of Revelation, and through Sacrament like Holy Communion, the foretaste of the marriage banquet of the Lamb, the Holy Spirit uses the church to keep us thirsty for eternal life, reminding us of the incalculable value of our inheritance. And, reminding us of the incalculable joy of life forever with our Heavenly Father.
Gracious God, we come for the water of life. Give us the strength to conquer Satan's deceptions together, and keep us righteous and holy. Come, Lord Jesus! Amen!
